Bandit is a very sweet young girl around 1 and 1/2 years old. We think she is part Rhodesian Ridgeback because she has the cutest mohawk going down her back. She loves to give out special little Bandit hugs to her people. Bandit is extremely smart, learns very quickly and will be an amazing dog with a forever home that puts in time and effort to teach and help guide her in the right direction. She is currently fostered with her 6-year-old foster brother and they love to run, play and wrestle all day long. Bandit has a lot of energy and will need a family that suits her high energy level. She does have a high prey drive and should probably not be in a home with cats, small dogs, small animals or young children at this time.
Bandit is crate trained, sleeps well in her crate at night and during the day if left alone. She is house broken and will alert by barking or whining to go out to relieve herself. Bandit is very athletic and can jump quite high and will require a minimum six-foot-high fence when she is out in the yard. Her forever home will understand that she cannot be left out in the yard alone because she may jump the fence if she sees rabbits, deer, or other dogs.
Bandit knows her basic commands, is working on her manners, recall, loose leash walking, along with any other issues she may still have to work through. Bandit does have some fear, excitement and protective issues that her foster home has been working really hard on and they have made some really huge improvements in this area. She can also be a bit anxious and her foster family has been working on getting her to relax in the home, yard and vehicle. She is also quite sensitive and will cower, drop or try to hide if voices are raised or she feels intimidated. She will need a forever home that has previous dog experience, especially with larger dogs and/or protective breeds, who is willing to continue to work with her shyness, fear and protectiveness and is willing to continue the training ARF provides to help her work through these issues. She is not a dog for first-time dog owner and her forever family will need be understanding and willing to help her become the calm relaxed dog we know she can be through patience, training and lots of love. She is extremely curious about everything and we are working with her to introduce her to as many new and old things in positive ways to help her gain more confidence therefore reducing some of her fear reactions. Bandit is a fantastic dog in almost every way and can and will be the perfect dog with the right forever family.
My ideal home will enroll in the training classes ARF offers right away, so we can start bonding and building our relationship on the right paw.
