WELLNESS Clinics
ARF volunteers pick up the animals from the pet owners on First Nations communities, take them to the vet to be spayed or neutered, and return them back to the owner.
In 2009, ARF has helped sponsor two additional Spay & Neuter Clinics by Providing $10,000.00 in funding.
A Look Inside an ARF Wellness Clinic
On the weekend of June 13th we held our first official dog wellness clinic for Tsuu T'ina Nation. In total 20 owners pre-registered their dogs, and 11 males and 9 females were sterilized. Volunteers gathered to assemble crates and greet owners as they arrived. The dogs were then taken to two vet clinics, Banded Peak and Copperfield, where they stayed for two nights. Surgery was performed and some vaccines (donated by Wyeth) were administered. On Monday, volunteers returned the dogs to the meeting place, to be reunited with their owners. The owners were all very grateful for this service and interested in their dog’s health.
