The Lives of Fenway & Andy, Happy Endings.

Fenway
Andy

We adopted two dogs from ARF a long time ago. They were both wonderful. This month they both passed away.

First was Fenway, (named Greta, born Oct 2010. She was one of the “-30C puppies”.)

Fenway’s life with us began Feb 12, 2011. She was afraid, wrinkled and adorable. Then she grew into an independent, strange and strong willed little lady who was very selective on who she would let into her inner circle. We loved her golden fur and cute face. Our boys called the extra skin under Fenway’s chin her “goobles” because it was soft and jelly-like. We are so happy that Fenway found her way to us.

Andy was found in 2007 running the streets of Eden Valley with his brother Blue Cheese. His first family surrendered him back to ARF. Brad and I met Andy at an adoption event, where Andy constantly stood next to Brad, buddying up to him. Andy was jumpy and mouthy, he greeted everyone with a lick on the face whether they wanted it or not. He could clear an entire coffee table with a swipe of his ever wagging tail. He played fetch endlessly… even when his ball was put away, he would find a stick or even a pine cone and drop it in front of anyone until he found a playmate ready to toss it for him! He was an avid swimmer and loved visiting lakes, rivers and even the occasional kiddie pool. Andy was our personal security system; he always alerted us to mail deliveries, dogs walking by or visitors at the door. He was always down for a belly rub!

Four years ago at the age of 10, Andy had a lump removed from his hock; the tests showed it was cancer. We never thought we’d get an additional four years with the old man; we are so thankful that we did as we needed it.

These past few weeks, Andy walked the kids to school, ate steak and chicken with rice and we all meandered through the park. He was so special to our family, such a truly loyal dog. Last week Andy passed away.

In the words of our 7-year-old son Emerson, “I wish we just had one more minute or even one more day.”

I write this to thank you for all you do, these dogs were so special to us and we appreciate the honor of having them in our family – Thank You.

I fostered Fenway and the other -30 pups. Many of them had movie star names and she was Greta Garbo. I remember meeting the lovely Andy, and as soon as I did I was thrilled that she would go live in such a wonderful home. My condolences to her wonderful family on the passing of two awesome dogs.

Beth we thought about you, and all those puppies you fostered when we reminisce about Fenways story. She was a quirky girl! She ended up having surgery on both her knees when she was 3 yrs then 4 yrs. She preferred life in the slow lane! She absolutely loved carrots and applesl 💕
