Indy, on the left and Lola on the right, are best friends.
These two lucky dogs were adopted by sisters and spend a lot of time together. It did not take them long to be bonded for life.
Suzzanne says “We had been dog-free for about a year and decided it was time to start looking for another furry friend to join our family. We weren’t planning on adopting a puppy, but after being introduced to Lola (by my sister who was fostering her) we were won over. Who could resist such a sweet playful girl with such a lovely temperament! Two years later, it’s hard to imagine life without Lola. She gets me out walking every day, through all of Calgary’s many seasons. She accompanies us on weekends as we run errands, and is warmly welcomed by older relatives when we visit at their care facility. Lola is always there for a snuggle when we finally sit down on the couch at the end of the day. Lola may not be the perfect dog, but she is perfect for us.”
In the mean time, Janet was fostering Indy. Janet says “Indy’s stay was short lived with us, as she had a surgery pending for her broken leg. But that didn’t stop me from grabbing her for little jailbreaks that led me volunteering in the facility to spend more time with her as she grew up. It was Feb 2023 Indy was finally all healed and ready to be adopted and she became my furbaby. She was just over a year old. Indy has brought so much love into the home. She has quite the voice, and personality. She loves to greet all the dogs and people in the neighborhood. She loves to snuggle up to anyone who comes over, and has brought so much joy into my life. I continue to volunteer with ARF, and encourage others to create their own positive experiences by volunteering.”
Although Indy & Lola don’t live together that spend a lot of time together and often meet up at the dog park. Nothing has changed since their initial moments together as pups and they still carry on and play like puppies.
ARF was wonderful to deal with throughout the adoption process and I would highly recommend ARF to anyone considering adopting a pet. They offer various supports to ensure the adoption is a success, and it’s obvious the organization and volunteers genuinely care about the welfare of animals.
Happy pups, Indy & Lola
