  • Introducing a new cat(s) to a new environment or other animals can be stressful for most cats. The transition to their new home and other animals, as well as getting used to their new litter box and scratching post, tends to be the least stressful for them and have the most lasting success if they have a smaller “safe” room to start in before having access to the whole house and other animals.
  • Many of our cats come from unknown backgrounds and may have used litter boxes and scratching posts for the first time when they entered the ARF program. We work very hard to help teach them to use litter boxes and scratching posts while in foster homes and in the adoption centre; however, many cats require “refreshers” when they go to their new homes.
  • It is up to each adopter whether or not they would like to continue with their insurance coverage after the free 6 week trial has expired.
  • Cats are not vaccinated for rabies, nor are they tested for or vaccinated against FeLV/FIV. Any additional veterinary procedures or testing is only done if recommended for diagnostic reasons by a veterinarian at one of ARF’s partnered clinics.
