Hi! My name is Murphy,

I am extremely intelligent and have lots of energy! I am super cute with my big radar ears! I am always learning new things (even if you might not realize it). I am a very sweet girl and if I get enough exercise and enrichment, I love to snuggle up with you in the couch. I love cuddles! I feel the best when I get lots of mental challenges and exercise! I have excellent recall, am working on my stays, and am happy in my crate. I can walk great on a leash, except I get nervous when I see other dogs on walkies – my first instinct is to protect myself and my family and can bark pretty loud. If something moves really fast, I am definitely going to try and catch it! My foster mom and dad are working on my confidence and ability to disengage from things that excite me. Lots of things are new and kind of scary! So far I get along well with the dogs I have hung-out with, but need proper introductions since I am still learning to manage my excitement and can be a bit socially awkward.

My pawfect family would have experience with handling dogs like me. I have been around kids, but since they like to run fast, sometimes I chase and bark at them, so it might be best to not have small kids in my house. Apparently I might be part “cattle dog” – whatever that is. I would be happy with other neutral dogs to help me learn how to be a better friend. Maybe they will even play with me (I do love chase!!). Hopefully my new family will understand that I need slow, calm and potentially graded introductions to new people and things, so when you first meet me please be patient. Once I get to know you and feel safe, I will be your best friend.

My ideal home will be excited to enroll us in the discounted training classes ARF offers, so we can start bonding and building our relationship on the right paw.
