  • Please enter a number greater than or equal to 1.
  • Name, species, breed, sex, age, and whether they have been exposed to cats previously.
  • The medical history of cats coming into the ARF program is rarely known. Despite being vaccinated as soon as it is safe to do so, they may have been exposed to viruses prior to coming into the program. Keeping your animals up-to-date on their vaccinations will help reduce the risk of them contracting viruses.
  • Some conditions do not present themselves immediately upon arrival and cannot be detected during a physical examination by a veterinarian at the time of intake. This is why ARF requires that all animals are kept separate from existing animals while being fostered. ARF will not be held liable for any medical or behavioral concerns or associated damages or costs that arise from fostering cats through ARF.
  • Please select all that apply.
  • Introducing a new cat(s) to a new environment or other animals can be stressful for most cats. The transition to their new space and other animals, as well as getting used to their new litter box and scratching post, tends to be the least stressful for them and have the most lasting success if they have a smaller “safe” room to start in before having access to the whole house and other animals. It is strongly recommended that quarantine periods (first 14 days) are in a bathroom before considering moving them to a spare room or gradually introducing them to the rest of your home following proper introduction guidelines. Having foster cats in a smaller, easy-to-clean area also helps with cleaning protocols should the foster cat(s) have any contagious medical concerns.
  • ARF will not be held liable for any medical or behavioral concerns or associated costs that arise from fostering cats through ARF.
  • Many cats coming into the ARF program come from unknown backgrounds and may have never used a litter box or scratching post indoors before. ARF will not be held liable for any damages and associated costs that arise from fostering cats through ARF.
  • This includes the Foster Home FAQ, Volunteer Manual, Cat Foster Home Manual, and the Foster Home Welcome Package. These materials will be sent to those who decide to join the program after speaking with the Cat Foster Home Coordinator.
  • This is held prior to receiving your first fosters and is approximately 1 hour long.
  • These are held in NE Calgary and are approximately 2 hours long.
  • ARF is partnered with clinics in the north and south areas of Calgary. The clinics that you will have access to and how to make appointments will be discussed with the Cat Foster Home Coordinator if you decide to join the fostering program. All veterinary costs authorized by the Cat Foster Home Coordinator for ARF foster cat(s) are covered by ARF.
  • Training would be provided by either an ARF Foster Home Program representative or by veterinary staff at a partnered veterinary clinic.
